Rolling Barrier 100 km/h — Advanced Highway Safety Solution
Designed to absorb impact energy and help redirect vehicles, rolling barrier systems provide an additional safety solution for selected highway locations and accident-prone road sections.
Product overview
How a rolling barrier works
Instead of a rigid face, the barrier carries a continuous line of rollers between steel guardrails. On impact the rollers rotate, absorbing energy and steering the vehicle along the barrier.
-
01
Contact
A vehicle that leaves its path strikes the rollers instead of a flat steel face.
-
02
Rotation
The rollers spin on their vertical axes, converting part of the impact energy into rotational energy.
-
03
Redirection
The turning rollers help guide the vehicle along the barrier and back toward its intended direction of travel.
Key features
Built to absorb, rotate and redirect
-
Impact energy absorption
Highly elastic rollers absorb collision energy and are designed to resist damage on impact.
-
Energy converted to rotation
Rotating rollers turn part of the impact force into rotational energy rather than an abrupt stop.
-
Vehicle redirection
Rollers and dual guardrails help redirect the vehicle and reduce damage to occupants and vehicles.
-
High-visibility rollers
Distinctive roller colours make the barrier line conspicuous; powder-coat colours are available on request.
-
For accident-prone locations
Best used where vehicles are frequently exposed to run-off and impact risk, such as sharp curves.
-
Suited to curved roads
Designed for easy installation and maintenance on curved alignments.
